  • More interior mods!

Bought a bag of 100 daylight white LEDs for a fiver from eBay.

Take one mirror console, remove old filament light holders.

Make up a wee stripboard full of LEDs wire series parallel in order to accept 12V.

Connect and fit little board in place of lamp holder, using your favorite glue! (Mine's hot melt glue )

Re-fit in car, and marvel at how your truck is now probably visible from space

Hummm, on closer inspection you seem to have a slightly different light to me but i don't think it would matter much.

I've taken out the centre and rear roof lights ready for the same mod. The rear one being very bright would be really handy.

Ian, they are 10,000mcd, 3.4V - 3.7V (20mA - 30mA), so four in series is safe enough for the range of voltages they'll see. I got them from eBay as I say, but can't get on there at the mo to give you the seller. I'll post it up later when eBay comes back!

The cupholders would be real nice, but I need somewhere for the switches in the center console, and don't see any blanks for them on the new console. I've got switches for electronic suspension, rear mirror, and tranny shift programing that need to go somewhere. What's the area to the left of the ebrake handle for?

Andy, i did the centre light on mine with a replacement from halfraauds.
So pleased with the result(as i put my tools in the back) i just bought another pack to do the rear one. Just clips in instead of the bulb!!!
                        Will post some pics asap

I moved all the buttons next to the steering wheel as they have 5 blank spots. The spot next to the E-brake is a cubby for more storage, and the armrest also has a secret compartment.

                          I now have 6 cupholders

Yeah, thats right. Make sure you get the ones with the correct forward voltage though. There are still some 1.5V-2V LEDS out there!

I just did the centre roof light which was mechanically a bit more involved as you have to dremel out a fair bit of the structure inside, and then change the pick up points for power.

Well worth doing though! MUCH brighter! Managed to shoehorn 28 LEDs in there.

Going to do the tailgate one tomorrow. Thats quite a big lens, and a lot of light there is very handy!

Tintin, yes I know there's replacement bulbs out there, but that wouldn't be any fun / allow me to mess about in the workshop for a few hours.
