  • Weird one - lathing/manufacturing

    Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone knows someone who could make these knobs in stainless? I need 12, but would be willing to put in a big order if needed. Preferably someone who could engrave to number and letter on top. I would be able to provide one to measure from.

Yes please, John, although I doubt he'll be able to source them. They are the control knobs for a Vox Phantom XII Stereo. Apparently 'impossible' to source. I am in touch with a couple of precision engineering firms to see if they'll make them. If they're genuinely impossible to get, I'll order a minimum batch size and flog what I don't need.

must be someone near with a lathe in the garden shed, try local modelmakers or custom bike builders.

a toolroom will be expensive and most want to make 100s.

theres a retired toolmaker in most areas with machinery in the back garden, its just a case of finding him - best of luck

I haven't seen one of those in a while, some old vox knobs might look nice on that

There is a very good Engineering company that I use for any work I can not do my self, they are based here in Kings Lynn and specialise in Stainless work, can laser cut, Machine and engrave, give me a shout if need be.
