  • Surf buying help

    Hello all,
I am going to be buying a surf within the next couple of months, I've decided on the 3.0td but wondered if you could help me with the differences between the ssrg and the ssrv also is there much difference in the 2nd and 3rd gen models other than exterior styling.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, Steve

    welcome dude
the ssrg has all the trimmings recoro seats wind deflictors spoiler bull bar that sort of stuff
most others dont have has much trimm

3rd gen are better running gear in my opinion
all tho i prefure the look of a 2nd gen

    3ltr is the better choice

a 2.4 use's just has much diesel has a 3ltr in my opinion

not all 3rd gens have different 4wd set up
someone will be alone soon to explain in full

2nd gen has the underpinnings of the old Hilux pickup, the 3rd gen is based on the 90 series Landcruiser. Having had both, the 3rd gen is a much nicer drive if most of your time is going to be on the road.

Other than that, they're comparable, and I doubt you'd be able to put a fag paper between them offroad.

Unless you're looking for a really cheap truck, the 3rd Gen is your best bet, as Apache said there is absolutly no difference in offroad performance between a stock 2nd or 3rd Gen, and the 3rd Gen is much nicer to live with daily.

Plus which, if you get a 3rd gen, you can rapidly earn back the difference in price over a 2nd Gen by offering trims, cut and blow dries, highlights, gloss treatments etc...
