  • Towing eye removal- Help!

    Hi,

Been trying to fit my bullbar today, managed to undo 3 of the 4 17mm bolts which hold the front towing eyes to the chassis, and on the last one it was very tight, managed to get it loose, however it is just spinning and not undoing; Trouble is I need to remove it to fit the bullbar bracket.

Has anyone had the same problem? If so, how the f*ck do you remove it?

    Simon

is there a nut, or is the bolt into a threaded hole/welded or captive nut ?
You may have to grind/burn/saw the head of the bolt off, then punch the remains of the bolt out. Then it's a case of drilling and thread inserting the hole if it's a threaded hole, or you could just drill it out big enough to get an M10 (17mm head) bolt through with a nut on the other end.

I'd say the captive nut inside the chassis has broken off..

Grind/burn head off bolt, punch remains into chassis. The drill through so you can just use long bolt & nut ?
