I thought vitara, but not knowing anything about them other than the hairdresser thing (I'm gonna get some flak for that). SJ a good idea, but comfort is high on the list.

RAV4? Never counted that as a capable offroader!

To get back to the point, The Vitara is pretty much as good as the SJ, a lot more comfortable. Only downside is it's more expensive than an SJ cos they are newer.

Still very modable, and loads of fun.

Ok, say...you like surfs. But don't like the fuel consumption ( I know we all put up with it but hey. ). What would you recommend for £2-£3k, with "sensible fuel economy" and "not a bag of nails".

I took the old man out with me to Salisbury, and I think the bug might have bit.

And YES, I have tried to get him to buy a surf. And NO he ain't having a challenger tank either, before Marky starts off on one!
