Hello all. I have had a surf now for just under a year. Had to use 4WD during the cold spell upon pressing the button 4wd engages upon turning off it does not disengage straight away, every time. is this a major problem or just because the 4wd not been used often.
    Cheers.

    By the way i have a 93 plate 2nd gen 3ltr manual.
    Cheers Si.

Hi Si, from a displaced scouser.

Stormy doesn't have a website, but if you give him a shout on here with your requirement, he'll be along.

Hi Si, it does not disengage immediately, sometimes mine is straight off or might take 5 -10 seconds, on one occasion it did not but it cleared itself after a few miles.
Try stopping or drive in a straight line lifting your foot of the throttle and re applying.

also when you engage 4wd try going to and fro a few feet as this will help it to engage

As vultch said, you have to let off the accelerator for it to change in and out of 4WD. Think of it as a "clutch" - keeping the revs on keeps the mechanism tight, let off, and it will release. cr@p analogy, I know, but I hope you get the idea!

                      Hello si
Try & get into the habit of turning the 4wd on & off once a month for a few minutes, helps to keep it working properly.

Wotcha, welcome to the asylum - just remember that some of the guys in white coats are inmates !

After the recent spell of ice and slush I noticed that my mobile salon switched out of 4WD much faster when it'd been used a few times

Hello Si. Afraid I've nothing to add, other than welcome. The advice you've already been given is spot on. Enjoy the forum. Cheers....Mick.
