  • Gutless 'n' Guzzling... HEeelp!

Looking for knowledgeable advice (rumour has it that such may be found here). While driving down to Cornwall at the w/end, the truck decided to become sluggish, symptoms are loss of power, seems to need enough throttle to light the turbo up to maintain speed at 30mph also is running cool (before and after new stat), power loss is enough to require half throttle to maintain 50 even empty! is not smoking but does appear to be running a bit rough at idle and does appear to be weeping diesel around the pump area. Tried removing air filter but no different, have new air and fuel filter arrived today along with pump seal kit from Milners and will try filters tomorrow. Don't really want to rip pump (2.4efi) apart unless i have to as have never tackled one, can it be resealed in situ or has it got to come out? have looked at the aussie site and it appears that the cover 'o' ring can be done in situ but where does the rest of the kit go?

    Regards all,

    Paul

hiya.where abouts down here did you stay.
Anyway you can do the pump seals while the pump is in place unless its a seal on the inside closest the block.I would do the top and side seals that can be done while the pump is in place and then see how it is.Might possibly be fuel primer sucking in air causing the problem.See i9f the primer goes hard when pumped several times.Do it when cold and then try once the truck has been running a little while
