can you not pull the fridge out and have a look in the back,it might be that there is a lot of dust and cobwebs around the fan /motor.

                  Fix for ya!

Dead easy fix, ours was doing it at xmas - Samsung American fridge with water dispenser.

Over time, the cooling fan does too good a job and actually ices itself up - what you are hearing is the fan clattering on the ice around it.

                  IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.

Apparently there is a "drip trap" underneath it, so all you need to do is turn it off for a few hours - We did it from about 1am to 8am, and then turned it back on. Don't open the fridge or freezer during this period as you'll lose the cold.

If you don't want to leave it that long, then try say, 3 hours first and see how you get on.

Our ice despenser was also fecked up at this point (during the clattering) and wouldn't stop producing ice. After the turn off and on again cycle all's well.

                  HTH!

I have used this company and have found them very good.I can't fault anything that i've bought from them.I have just about replaced everything in the dishwasher from the pump to tray rollers.Parts are sent out quick and decent quality parts most of which are genuine parts

Thanks guys, Wolfracer, i think you've hit the nail on the head, i seem to remember this is what the guy said, plus it got real loud last night and has gone quiet again so it's either fecked up the fan or some ice has fell off, i'll defrost it and see how it goes, seems to be working ok tho, still cool in there,
Vulch, yeah we had the recall thing done a while back, some problem with summat possibly "arcing" on defrost,
never thought of espares! i have bought from them in the past (an element for the cooker) they were good,
so Stien wasn't far out as it happens!!! leave the door open, it'll warm up, ice melts, noise gone, he aint just a pretty face out Mark
                      cheers all

I have the same fridge, American style ice and water fridge.

There is a problem with the auto defrost programming, Basically it does not go to defrost for long enough and results in a build up of ice which impedes the fan. (Annoying knocking noise until it stops working)

The fix is simple and will be done free of charge by either Samsung or the retailer. All that need doing it the defrost settings changed whilst in engineer mode.

Took the second engineer 5 mins to do mine after replacing the plastic trim that the first engineer snapped whilst trying to break the ice off!

                        Mine works fine now.
If it can be broken it can be fixed

The call out was for a power supply component. Ours was one affected. It didn't hum though.

Ian, is yours one with the plumbed in water chiller / ice maker / dispenser? Ace aren't they?

Yup! it has the water/ice despenser and yes till they play up!!, i defrosted it this morn, left it switched off and give it a good clean and the prob is still there, been looking on "espares" but i'm not sure what part i need, i think it's the fan motor and houseing, 50 odd quid but if it aint that it's 50 odd quid down the pan, pretty sure i have the right bit for a RS21DCNS, i find the part and link it,
soddin knew it wouldn't be as easy as a defrost knowing my luck

Sean, it's not in warranty anymore dont suppose they'd do it for free now would they?
