Hi Shane. Welcome. Why not post some pics of your rig on here. I've always liked the early Tacomas and Tundras, but they're U.S. built, and LHD only.....Shame!.... Vince (bushwacker) will probably like the Tundras because I think some came with his "beloved" Lexus V8 as standard.....Sure you'll have much to discuss.....Cheers....Mick.

Tundras (not all) have the 2UZ-FE (4.7) as used in the Landcruiser Amazon. Very thirsty and heavy, iron block/alloy heads.
The Lexus is the 1UZ-FE (4.0) Light and thrifty, all alloy.

Funny you mention that, I'm about 80% done with my RHD conversion

It's actually not too bad this year. 35ish degrees for highs and 10's for lows. Last year was a different story.....

I'll get some pics posted up soon. Fair warning though, it's bagged. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

This guy knows his UZ's. The 1UZ was only offered in a few select cars(LS400 and SC400 here in the U.S.), most of which never made it out of Japan (GS400 and Toyota Soarer). It's a damn good motor too.

I have fitted 1UZs and their transmissions to 4Runners and have another sitting on the garage floor at the moment.

I've been considering doing a 1UZ swap into my Tacoma as well. All the research I've done suggests the bellhousing from the 1UZ bolts directly to my 2RZ. It would be a good way to get a v8 and keep all the parts in the Toyota family. You might have just become my new best friend......

It'll be easier to use the tranny that came with the V8, unless yours is a manual transmission?
