Why would you want to do that? The intake height is still the limiting factor. It's a 'coil on plug' ignition vehicle so 'out of the box' it will wade about as deep as the diesel - and any deeper is 'floating'.

For the 99.99% of the time I'm not headlight deep in river, I can revel in a smooth, quiet, powerful and (slightly more) economical drive

If the 3rd gen in general is the vehicle of choice for hairdressers, then the 3rd gen petrol is the vehicle of choice for airline stewards,

You barely got your wheels wet on the 1st gen before it conked! That was carb issues wasn't it?

After another recent thread, I'm not so prejudiced against them from the drowning point of view, I'd sworn by diesel until now.

I run a 2nd gen with a 6inch lift and there is room for 35s over my current 33s, has anyone done a decent lift on a third gen?

                      Not yet...

I was thinking about the kit from Roughtrax for 2", and I'm going to knock up a 2" bodylift kit when I dont have to hack the ice off the lock on my workshop

Body lift should be similar to a 2nd gen, are they coils all round?

No, front is coil. Blackpoolsparks has +2" suspension on his, looks very nice.

What's up the rear, leaf springs?

MacPherson type struts at the front, coil springs at the rear.
