They make my Surf look economical, 850 is the ultimate but not many mechanics are keen to work on them but I'v heard their bullet proof. 840 safer investment also there is not much difference in performance as the 840 is lighter with marginally less bhp....

except for the 850 CSi... mental machine

A mate had the Alpina 850. Something went in engine and he was quoted 4K if the parts were available. AFAIK 2 years later and he still didn't have the correct bits for the job.

Looks awesome though.

ive had a 540i,was a 6 speed manual too,in avus blue with alpina alloys,lovely car,one of the few cars i regret selling
