  • Snorkel Questions

Does proper aftermarket snorkel's pipework (before the wing) fit into existing holes in the vehicle?

Would removing a big chunk of structural steel to fit a snorkel, cause problems with insurance or C&U regulations?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

IMO i would have made the hole in the structure slightly bigger so i could weld a piece back in to form a tunnel, this should keep the strength around the hole made through the strengthening brace down the inner wing, that way it would keep torsional rigidity even though a piece was removed, i have seen a few real bodged up attempts at this, and it occurred to me that if you take steel out you have to find a way of strengthening the structure back up again.
I'M ALWAYS IN THE SH'T, IT'S ONLY THE DEPTH THAT VARIES!!!!!!!!

Pah, it's only a wee hole in the inner wing.

          I remember I replaced a B pillar with a Surf sidelight/wing/bumper once.

I wouldn't have thought it'd make much difference. There is a reinforceing ring that you bolt round the hole you make with Safari and TJM snorkels anyway.
