No, you were supposed to show a bit of decency and not bid against a fellow forum member.
I can see your point here Andy, but is the point of an auction not that the item goes to he who wants it most, ie the person who is willing to pay the highest amount for it?
Suppose that you are willing to pay £30, he is willing to pay £35 but doesn't bid because he knows you are. The item sells to a non forum member for £33, you can see how he'd be pi**ed off in that situation.
In forum situations like this, I think its helpful if anybody who is interested posts what their top end bid is. The highest bids and the remainder stay away. In my opinion, that is the decent and neighbourly thing to do.
For the record, I have better things to spend my cash on, like the real Surf sitting on my drive so I will not be bidding.

Yeah because no one would bid a quid more than the highest claimed bid just to take the wosname.. Well none of the regulars,anyway...
I can understand the seller being a bit miffed, but he would never know who had or hadn't bid?
Most forums have an unwritten rule about bidding against other members, but as I said; each to their own. I, personally, wouldn't knowingly bid against someone else on here.
