  • Will these wheels fit

    Hi all

In between jobs at the moment and need some tyres for my surf, I have pretty nice alloy's with 31 15.50 x 15 tyres which are in need of replacing.

    Been looking on ebay for ages trying to find four or five tyres that aren't the other end of the country and had no luck, I have found these Hilux wheels and wondered if they'd fit;

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Help/advice appreciated as I can't really afford to get it wrong.

    Cheers
    Brian

I think they will fit a 1st or 2nd gen.

They are a bit expensive though.

I don't know what my surf is [useless ain't I, it's why I don't post on here much]

My Surf is a 94 3L limited edition one with some letters after it [ssrx?], is that first or second generation?

      Thanks for replying, much appreciated

Yes they will fit, but they are about 1/2" narrower than what you have now.

You have a 2nd gen Surf by the way.

Hi and thanks for the reply

I guessed the generation thing was like the landrover series 1 2 3 etc but wasn't sure when the surfs started or where mine fitted in.

            I've got a 2nd gen

I will try and upload a pic of my wheels later, photobuckets messing around this morning.

                  Try www.4x4tyres.com

You'll get four brand new Kingpin ATs for the price of those wheels from eBay.

Thanks mate though I guess it looks like everyone else's

Had it 3 1/2 years now and it's been fantastic, only really used as a car [never been off road] but ultra reliable. Been talking about selling it as no work and I could get away with something with a smaller engine and cheaper insurance, will miss it if it does go and doubt I'll get much for it just trying to reduce our overheads

Not good times for us at the mo

Hi ya and thanks for the link/info

I've just checked them out and it's £270 for the four plus I can't get cheap fitting/balancing so that'll cost me at least another £10-£15 a wheel, biggest problem I have was I was always taught to stay clear of remoulds [even the tyre seller on ebay advised me against them?]
I know that's probably an old thought on remoulds but it stopped me buying them so never had any experience [or issues] with them.

If you sell it you won't get what it's worth at the moment, not only that but you will regret it after!

                        Cheers, Nick

I know they ain't fetching much

When I bought it I had £3.5k to spend and went for Landrovers first, they were rubbish for that money. Saw this and fell in love, it's like a new car underneath and fully loaded. No regrets about owning it and if things were better I'd be keeping it because what will I get for the cash if it sells [not much], just sailed through the MOT [few weeks ago] with only an advisory on the nearside front tyre and I knew these were borderline before putting it in.
Just seemed if I was going to sell this would be the best time with the full ticket

Not surprising he'd tell you to stay clear - he wants to sell you something more expensive.

Remoulds these days aren't what they used to be. They have to comply to the same safety standards as all other tyres. Personally, I'd rather have them than something 2nd hand with an unknown past.

Shame you're thinking of selling the truck, but needs must and all that, and give the winter we're in for it might be a good time to sell. You can always get another, better one, when back in employment eh?

If I can get some tyres I'll keep it [well at least till the snows gone]

                              Cheers all
