  • Dodgy as cabbage?

Long story short, a guy came into work yesterday asking if we would measure the resistance across something and supply him a resistor of that value.
Didn't sound too bad, then he produced a seatbelt with a sensor on it?

I don't really know what he was upto other than using a resistor for cancelling a sensor error signal.

I flat out refused, if a seatbelt sensor is sending an error, then surely there is a possible problem with the seatbelt? and needs a professional to look at.

If there was a problem with the seatbelt then there is no way I'm going to aid the guy in disabling the warning!

What if he does it and sells the car, someone dies as the seatbelt fails?

Soz just wanted to get it off my chest and share.

Probably a pre-tensioner fault, you were right not to help.
