We had -20.5C in Kintore on Thursday evening, so much ice had formed around the door I struggled to get out of the house. Not pleasant at all. Quite warm here tonight, only -7!
Did you see the 'how it works' today about super powerful electromagnets. There's a lab in the States with an electromagnet 40,000 times more powerful than the earths magnetic field. The chap dropped a lump of aluminium through the coil (about 10ft high) and it took over two minutes to hit the ground! And aluminium is non-ferrous!!
I must be getting hard in my old age because ever since we've had this cold snap i think its felt relatively mild & im all skin & bone so i should feel it more than most.
Supposed to get to -12 tonight so i my need to keep the window open all night.
