your talking crap mate you see i put a snorkel on my surf to protect the engine when off roading if your an all talk and no go and just want a snorkel as an ornament then pay £200 I'm sure it ll make you look very macho when in the co-op car park but as i do go off road and as its likely that i will damage my surf spending £200 on a snorkel seemed a little daft

I'm just looking at ally tube too. Easier for me to work with, and easier to form. I'll get a few bits to play with. I'd like to form it so it sits closer to the wing. The inlet to the airbox is near the front of the car as you know.

There is nothing wrong with building your own .....

This one i buitt for my 2nd gen and is now on Biosurf's ..... it must be 6 years old now and just as good as a plastic one ......

Half the fun is building something at a fraction of the price of a safari or tjm .....

hmmm me thinks it may be time to break out the fibre glass and make a "safari" clone to sit on the side.that way it will mean keeping the original ariel
ally tubing good idea too altho' I am leaning towards using flexi pipe here's hoping I can find some the right diameter for the LR end fitting..
I couldn't possibly justify spending £200 on an original snorkel but each to their own I am sure under scrutiny many of you would laugh at what I do spend/waste my hard earned on

Making one is the way to do it. I'd rather damage a homemade £40 snorkel then a bought £200 one. If I just wanted to pose about town then fine (but retarded)

i had a safari on mine , tipped it on its side , back up again, the snorkel broke the screen and i carried on through the lake , when i got out the snorkel was still in 1 piece , if it was made out of a drainpipe it will still be in the bottom of the lake

Some people don't have the tools or skill to make one that works.

My retarded Safari one has had a 250kg wind blown horse lorry ramp land on it, and all that broke was a bit off the door window deflector. A metal one would have crushed and broke the windscreen, A pillar and probably side window and door frame to.

I've seen for good built ones, and some pretty Shite looking ones too.

I've just sold a safari snorkel. I'm thinking that a nice stainless tube will look loads better. Because it's going on lexurf, do I miss out on the ridicule bit?
                                I'm using mild steel...cos it's free and it's 3" diameter.
