Mr Ringelmann and I will argue this point. But it's probably more relevant in proper combustion plants, as opposed to diesel engines.

I'll concede that it's very, very, hard to under fuel a diesel engine
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

4 pages on 1KZTE tuning! People using the search function in the future might think they've stumbled on the answer!

If you came here, from the future, you haven't! All discussions about tuning the mighty 1KZTE seem to end like this....

Yes, in a (very) large industrial engine white "smoke" can be seen in a drastically under fuelled condition. This can occur if the engine has enough fuel to maintain a self sustaining RPM but combustion chamber temperatures do not rise sufficiently to superheat the water vapour in the intake air. The resultant condensate mixed with the other exhaust gasses will produce a steam-like appearance. Not a condition that can readily be achieved in a drivable vehicle.

I was being pedantic earlier when I mentioned 'white' smoke, we both (all) know it's not possible in a Surf (but is easily attainable in a large combustion plant). A Surf will run with no inlet manifold at all.

I'm in the unfortunate position that, because I'm a pedant, all my posts get scrutinised closely; so I have to try to cover as many bases as I can when I discuss. The great unwashed just love pulling me up for mistakes

My forte is combustion, if it runs on Petrol, Diesel, LFO, HFO, LFF or gas; I understand it...

Well, I'm on my own again so I'll just have to disagree with me...

What do you say to that, Oil-Burner?!

That's mostly condensate. Remember it's chemistry and there's snow.

Lucky you. My weakest subject is diesel. I'm slightly better on gas, then gasoline reciprocating engines. My forté, as far as engines go, would have to be turbines. Gas, oil, kerosine, coal dust. Axial of centrifugal flow. As I can tell, you already know: an engine's an engine's an engine. Suck. Squeeze. Bang. Blow.

I've never worked with Coal Dust or floating floor stuff. Did the theory, but forgot it as it wasn't relevant.

I used to work with Steam generation (my favourite) then moved on to Gas/Diesel turbine driven compressors. I'm now into Gas storage and distribution.

But as for combustion, aye; Sook, Squeeze, Bang, Blaw.

My phone is getting very hot now! If it had a head gasket I'd be worried! It's on charge but struggling to keep up with demand.

I'm at a loose end. Can I come and work with you?
