  • Built like a tank

Last Saturday I was driving my 1994 3.0TD along the A626 in Glossop behind a queue of traffic when some eejit coming the other way around what for him would have been a 90 left looses control clobbers the kerb and comes flying at me backwards at about 60mph. All I see is a big maroon BMW heading straight for me, I remember thinking "this is going to hurt" A couple of miiliseconds later the BMW rear offside bumper has struck the front offside tyre on my beloved Surf, exploded in a cloud of plastic and dust and the offending car shot off towards Glossop at mach 3. I get out expecting to see major carnage but all I can find is a scuff mark on my tyre, a crushed wheel arch at the front and a cracked wheel arch at the rear offside. The road is covered in bits of BMW, both the outer and inner parts of the bumper, the rear offside light cluster bits of glass and plastic everywhere. But, no rear number plate....bugger. I've managed to track down a front offside wheel arch and I may have found a rear one bit I'm not 100% sure. Anyone know where I can get a rear O/S wheel arch????

Any particular colour arch ext you need or will any colour be ok.
Make sure you get the truck checked over thoroughly aswell as there may be damage to the steering or something else
edit that.I just realised you have a 96 surf which will be a 3rd gen

      I'm lucky because....

Thanks for the quick reply Stormforce, I work as the administrator in the local garage about 1 mile from the site of the incident. This morning first thing there were 2 mechanics swarming all over my Surf and she has been pronounced in A1 condition, which is some testament to the build quality.
The existing wheel arch is dark grey.

      Cheers, John

Seems to be the way of things today, just ask how many people here have come back to their vehicle in a car park etc to find a new dent in it with no note left. This guy even knew he had been seen and still buggered off.

You should ALWAYS report this sort of incident ...

                      1. If he reports it then it could seem that YOU are the one that failed to stop

                      2. It screws up the Police statistics !
