  • Roof bars fitted.........yay

Fitted me roof bars today... only broke 2 buttons in the roof lining and 2 fixings on one side panel.
Sunroof weighs a frekin ton so had to get her in doors to come out and chip in.
Was funny watching her lying on her back holding the sunroof up with her feet while i marked the tray to nibble it out where the front bolt goes. Found a shed load of wires relating to the towbar sockets, had to tidy that up before drilling roof comenced.
Escort bars are a tad long if you have sunroof and are right on the edge of sunroof opening and just shy of where the roof drops off at the back but they look great if i say so myself.
The front hole was through 2 skins of metal, the roof and the reinforcement for the sunroof.
Had one minor hiccup when the pilot drill snatched and snapped on the second skin and i nicked the roof with the chuck......bugga....luckily the foot on the bar covers the scar.
Rear hole means fiddling between roof and inner metalwork damn fiddly with fat fingers.
Chuffed with meself now its done, will post piccy when the sun comes up....

          Good job.

Recently fitted some bars to mine. They were off a Mitsubishi Space star. They are a good length to keep away from sunroof but needed fettling to the shape of the roof, hours of fun scribing ,grinding and filing.

Look forward to seeing your photo's

I'm not supprised. I can remember the weight of a sunroof quite well!
                  Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Do you realy have to take the entire Roof lining down? This would be my main worry especially as the post that Vince added shows taking almost all the rear end apart.

I want to add some bars, yes i have a Sun roof but if you have to take your Truck interior apart then maybe its just as easy to spend the extra and get some bolt on's
                          Always room for more power!!!!

Taking the roof lining out really isn't that hard. I did it to fit roof tray mounting blocks. It's fiddly, but not difficult.
