  • The End Of An Era

Well that's it folks, the Surf finally went to a new home today. A very nice couple, Glynn and Adele, travelled all the way up from Portsmouth on the coach to come and buy the truck.

Hopefully they will have as many happy years with the truck that I did. I believe that it has gone to a good home, as talking to Glynn he appears to be a real enthusiast.

Apache you were kind of right mate, I did feel a real twinge of regret as the tail lights disappeared into the distance! Still, it's time for a new start so the search for a 3rd gen begins, trouble is there doesn't seem to be many of them about, sods law I guess.

Luckily I'm in no great rush, so I'll just hang on until the right one comes up.

        Thanks Jim

Just a quick one to say thanks for being a genuine and upfront bloke from start to finish - definitely made the decision to come from Portsmouth seem like less of a risk and it paid off all I can say is its good to know there are genuinely nice people about something that I dont see a lot of in my day job

Im not suprised you were sad to see it go we both had an enjoyable drive back and it made the 9 hour bus trip seem insignificant. To say Im pleased is an understatement!! Keep grinning every time I see it and was a great present to give myself on my birthday!

Good luck with the search for the Gen3! I have seen your other post on here about traders etc and one of the reasons my first port of call was the owners forum was in the hope that I'd be lucky like I have and buy one from an enthusiast who wants to sell to another to appreciate it. Yes everyones got to earn some money these days however they can - but to buy to sell to a non-enthusiast at an inflated price from the club site seems a little unfair as if it was simply a business transaction for maximum cash the vehicle would have been on the trader from the off? Maybe thats just me looking at it through rose tinted specs as Ive been lucky!?

Anyways I digress thanks again for the truck, collection from station, cuppa and biscuits!! Ill have your glasses in the post by the end of the week

Well done Jim. You've been trying to offload that lemon for AGES.

To the OP. only kidding, you have a truck with impeccable provenance...and hope you enjoy it...its time it had an easier life in the southern sunshine.
