    Cheers Rich
Ah so you know the crack already then!
If you need a photo of the bulkhead plate, mines got the weights and stuff on it. Yes the 4 Runner is a benefit for imatriculation, the draw back is 15 years of UK climate on the body work, and no extras! These Toyotas are rot boxes if not kept in touch!!!

PS It passed the CT with RHD headlamps on! I don't how and I had ordered LHD lamps, but they were lost in Paris, then delivered smashed, third set arrived OK.

      Surf (1991 J Reg ) registered in France ??

      Est - il possible ?

If you have any clear - all the stages necessary - advice as to how to get my 1991 Surf registered in France I would be grateful.

Toyota told me no Cert of Conformity was possible - so I assume an Inspection at the DRIRE will be necessary, but last time I went there I was sent away - they refused to even look at the Surf. I forget why exactly but it may have had something to do with the 12 figure VIN no ??

Anyway, I would really like to register this Surf in France for any no. of reasons : I have seen one or two v. similar looking ( I thought Surfs ) with French reg..

You may have seen Runners but not Surfs. As far as I am aware the Surf was never offcially imported to Europe, which is why I focused on getting a 4Runner to make the process easier.
If you are asking Toyota for a cert of conformity for a Surf then you are probably right,no certificate is available.
If you ask for a "certificate de conformitie partial" for a Runner you may make more progress.Even with mine being a Runner I was sent a Partial certificate, along with a full certificate with Specimen written across the middle in bold red letters. I just presented the specimen with the completed dosier to the Préfecture and they accepted it!!
As to whether your prefecture would accept it I do not know, this is France after all!!!!

        Bon courage

          4 runner vs Surf ?

Erm...... at the risk, etc.,,, what is the difference between a 4 Runner and a Surf ?

I have never seen a '4 Runner' advertised as such.

So on the subject of registering the Surf - the local DRIRE office cannot give single vehicle approval ?

Or otherwise approve it for Registration / Carte Grise ?

            The difference?

Ten years of rust,no cup holder, solid flywheel, and no extras no emmisions control to strangle the engine, other than that it's,body wise at least, the same vehicle.
4Runner was the name given to the vehicle in Europe and nrth america, and australia I think.
Richard (rbaz) shold be able to help you more with DRIRE info,by all accounts he's been there and done it on another Grey!!

            For your info:-

            http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/off...&th=1&q=runner

Have a laugh at the asking prices and see why its worth putting them on French plates!!

            Regards

Mon Dieu ! Pas de Cup Holder ??

Mon Dieu ! How do they ( ? you ) survive without the Cupholders ????

I thought it was just a regional / country naming thing. Ie same car, different names in different countries.
