Sorry I didn't get to meet up the other week Andy, I ended up working at Evesham and Cam as well as Llandudno, I stayed at the Abbey for a couple of nights, but as usual I had to do 6 days work in 3 days, mental hours.

      Next time.

I've been on a mix of 6 - 2 and 2 - 10 lately, so not really been able to organise anything either.

2 - 10 this coming week then back to normality for a wee while hopefully.

Hi welcome to the mad house.

I've had my 3.0 ltr for 5 years or so now and not had much trouble with it at all.

It's a fantastic vehicle with a great driving position for me being over 6ft and the Recaro seats on my SSR G 2nd gen very comfortable.

The only rust on my Surf is the back bumpers, they've rusted through from the back, mainly because of my eagerness to keep it clean and shiny in the early years of ownership. When i get around to replacing them i'll wax oil them up, that will stop the hose doing the damage.

I cant really tell you about the mechanical side, only that mine has been very reliable and trustworthy starting first time every time no worries.

Been in plenty of Landies mate and i cant see how you can compare the two !

Wouldn't bother with them...they're crap. Mine can only do 0-60mph in 7 seconds.

Its a bl00dy small world, Andy. I did C&G Heavy / Light vehicle mechanics at Wigan Tech 77-80. Went to the Casino 77-80. I remember all those pubs, but do you remember the Turnkey Cellar Bar and also, Trucks nightclub?....It wasnt called the Beehive, though. It was called the Bees Knees....Great memories.....Cheers....Mick.

Well i have been looking at getting an Hilux S but need to know how good they are On / Off Road .

I own a Disco 200tdi at the moment and can not get to the bottem of the problem with play in the steering and it's had everything new and still like it so maybe it's time to go ...

On Road i need a 4x4 to do long trips + handle very well with no problems ..

Off Road i need something that will match my Disco and do any Green Lane and the odd trip to somewhere like bala and not break..

What are the good and bad points about them as i would be looking at a 3.0td Auto if i got one ... Are they prone to rot like a Land Rover .... Thanks
Hello Jay. Welcome..... Landy v Yota......In the 17 years I spent selling gearbox parts, I sold MOUNTAINS of bearings, synchro rings, shafts, hubs, gears, selector forks etc for the LT77, LT83, LT95 and R380 boxes......What did I sell for Toyota 4x4 boxes?......A couple of handfulls of bearings....Cheers....Mick.
