I'm going to use those miniature driving lights, similar to what Maverick has on his rear spoiler, one either side in the rear bumper quarters pointing down and one on either side fixed to the chassis between the doors pointing down, switched through relays to come on with my reverse lights, keyless entry system plus a seperate switch on the dash for manual operation if I drop a pound coin under the truck in the dark!

What do you need rock lights for Vince?

Kerb lights maybe, or ASDA car parking bay lights...

          LOL,

I had 'rock' lights on the old pickup, they all got clagged up with mud after 5mins offroading, then broken by flying stones.

I suppose if they had plastic covers on when not in use, you could get away with it - just avoid the dreaded "Neons" look...

They look ok, gonna work out at around a fiver a light plus post from the US, surly something could be made up with ultra-bright leds, you need some sort of waterproof houseing to fit them in. i made some leds light up in clear casting resin for the fish tank, there waterproof alright, only prob is ya cant replace a duff led, also even if you only want to use em off road there still gonna be covered in road dirt given how often it pi$$es down here, ok on a southern caliornia/nevada dwelling truck, ya'd need to fit em somewhere you can easly clean em, (or fit little wipers to each one)
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

I like your idea of using clear casting epoxy resin, the occasional jetwash should do the trick.

Minus the mini wipers, that could be the way forward

These are cheap enough and could be cast in resin nicely.

they's save a lot of soldering, just make some mould's up and place em in and cover in casting resin, i used some small stainless hamster dishes from the pet shop but oqt will do, i get my leds from these

also thought about the 12v type halogen lights ya get in some ceiling/kitchen lights, they also do em in energy saveing leds, got a pack of 4 yesterday at B&Q for £12, also come in colours and colour changing for that cool chav look

ps just thought if your going to do the casting resin thing you could also "resin" in some brass bolts or stud for fixing

That's a good idea, I was going between that and drilling them afterwards, got to decide where there going to be placed, which in turn will determine the fixing method.

I'll see what is in the asda value range of moulds, bowls cups etc :-). I had thought of using small (cheap) plastic lunch box (Tupperware) but the resin might melt it.
The last stuff I used was west system which got Verry hot ( melted the syringe ) being used.

I looked at the 12v halogen type lights but I like the idea of a flat light, should collect less mud if it's flush mounted.

i've done that!! i'm useless at measureing the activator, i tend to now under do it and it takes ages to go off, i once used it for "sea" around a model ship i'd spent ages makeing, overdid the mix, it got red hot, melted the ship, then turned brown and cracked all over the place, whole lot went in the bin
