  • How should a 2nd battery

be fitted into a truck that only has had 1 battery fitted.
I thought it would be a case of taking a new battery lead from the live terminal of the original battery and putting it to the new 2nd battery and then on the negative side earth that to the body.
The guy who just asked me was told if it was done like this then it would catch fire.Could someone explain for me the best way to connect up a new 2nd battery please

lol, noooo, thats how twin battery Surfs are wired up, its in parallel, stays 12V doubles the amps, wired pos to neg (serial) gets you 24v, same amps

(not sure if you have to wire the neg directly from batt to batt to make it work, or just to -ve on truck, someone else will know)

The positive cables are linked together. The cable runs accross under the slam panel from the driver's side to the other side.
The negative just bolts to the inner wing on the passenger side.
