The 1st impression of this Newbie to both the forum and Surfs.

    forum
Wish I had come here 1st and I would of got the 2.4TD, bt rather one with out known problems with cracking heads. Oh well you live and learn at least you can get info here.

    Surf
After owning a 3.5 V8 Range Rover the Surf dows feel a bit under powered but more than compensated by not having Solihull electrics. Land Rover build quality and the normal problems of a rangie that is old! Even going from LPG to Diesel I am not suffering in the wallet as I now do more than double the MPG so happy me

    A bit about me
Late 30's Consultant engineer / quality manager in the automotive industry. Mad keen biker (no I realy look like this). Have at the moment between me and the good lady wife 7 bikes in various stages of being built / customised hence the need for a bif car with load carrying space.

I'm a biker too... 98 FireStorm. Looking forward to the Skerries road races this weekend. Haven't got my Surf yet - mate buying FireStorm to fund Surf purchase... Shame, but roads too risky for bikers - all them big 4x4s trying to kill us.
This is a great forum - there's a heap of advice & opinion available.
