About ten minutes into it (the bit with the huge alien spaceship hovering over JoBurg) my wife asked me if it was a true story.
        Sometimes I despair...

I enjoyed the movie, but yeah the truck is very nice.

Was chatting to Mattisa at Bala, he mentioned that every other truck is a Hilux or similar in S Africa.

Awesome movie... I might be a bit biased.

Like the rest of Africa Toyota's are very popular vehicles, we didn't get the surf but the Hilux bakkies(bakkie means little truck in afrikaans)are everywhere. Bakkies are so popular in SA because you can carry people in the back, not the safest way of traveling but hey I'm still alive.

We have a lot of different models of vehicles in SA, we even still make the MK1 golf... another popular little vehicle.

I thought it was a good film. A bit different from the usual 'aliens invade eath, look like winning then Bruce Willis / Steven Segal or Arnie save us all single handedly with shouts of muthafcuker!!!' This is a story about apartheid, not space ships and laser guns.

Mind you, hollywoods films are much more realistic...

I understood the concept that there was an underlying theme regarding apartheid rather than just shooting aliens, I still couldn't get away with it though. I don't know why, but it just didn't hold my interest.
