Dead right there mate , wipe it out and start again lol. In all honesty if they were ever going to do anything with that pier properly it would have had to come down anyway.

It was in a real dangerous state. That mob ravenclaw bought it and just left it to rot. Makes you wonder what Eastbourne pier is like though. Could be a laugh to NOT see it there one day...just a haze of blue and purple dye in the water.

It did make for some really good looking photo's though, a mate of mine was up most of the night taking pics and video (sad git lol), the best bit was there was about 60 firefighters tackling that blaze and he described the emergency services as "doing a lot of running about" lol, just the way he says things sometimes, it must have been a bugger of a blaze to try and get under control.

I thought you had a testing station in Eastbourne as well, you live and learn.

Well thank god the pier burned down. It gave me a great excuse for being late...whilst I stood in the pouring rain, reassembling the viscous fan...poxy bleedin GM crap.

, so did it clear in the end or did they proudly present you with a PG9 (if memory serves, designation might have changed now).

All cleared now. It was issued by a stroppy copper. He said " send it to the sva test centre it went to originally". i tried to explain that

                          A. the pg9 he was trying to issue was for a blowout, that had ripped the wing to bits... and he was issuing a pg9 for bodywork hitting the tyre...jerk.

                          B. I couldnt take it to an sva site...all the hummers had had a certificate of initial fitness...and these issued this year. I called vosa for advice, and they said nothing to do with us...and the police were insistent they were right.

I took it to the test station, the head vosa man was there, the copper was there and so was the hummer. Since they were coif'd the front drive shafts, trans axle and assorted gubbins were all removed to make way for an extended steering shaft. I have dispensed with the old cv joints, as they dont do anything except shed bits of themselves everywhere. The copper decided that this was good enough to have me pg9'd again as he couldnt see why the wheel bearing hadnt fell out. I removed the wheel, caliper and split the hub to show them its construction. the upshot was, that the vosa man called the traffic cop's superior. He told him that this traffic officer was under NO circumstances allowed to pg9/gv9 a commercial vehicle, without vosa approval again...as doing so made vosa responsible for our losses...which boss man ramped up. It was a trying, but ultimately succesful day. The problem is, the police used to deal with limo's. Since they have been turned , effectively into buses, with the relevant o licence and pcv licence requirement, vosa have had to assume the mantle of chief protagonists...its all got messy.

, sounds like VOSA did the right thing by that copper then, not being funny here but I have no idea on the construction of the hub or bearings on them but your hardly likely to repair it then drive it from Eastbourne to Hastings to a VOSA test centre of all places knowing there's chance of a bearing coming adrift, what a numpty, truely unbelievable .
I bet the copper got a right rocket when he got back .

The copper said" " I'm the man in the know"...and ge must have been all of 25. I pointed out, in a subtle manner, that I've been involved with coaches/buses/psv operation for near on 25 years, and I couldn't possibly take advice from a bloke whoa balls were still up his abdominal cavity.
