I use to watch his films on a wednesday evening back in the days when there were only itv and bbc1

He had a flat near me. I met him briefly when I was young. Nice chap.

Probably be a public day of mourning in Moldova. From memory the state controlled TV would only run very safe, old western films so he's still incredibly popular over there.

Anyway, as per everyone else, very sad loss of a comic genius. Lee Evans is, I suppose, our modern day equivalent...except he's not remotely funny.

I never really got Norman Wisdom, but he seemed like a lovely bloke.

What a funny guy he was, i remember watching him on the Parkinson show many years ago . As a five year old he walked from London to Wales to get work, with no money and not many cloths, eating and sleeping in farmers fields !

His son runs a sports shop in the nearby town, nice bloke. I guess i wont be able to shout Mr Grimsdale anymore then while entering the shop.


Seen loads of his films, not only was he funny, but a hard bugger as well. Apparently when he got Knighted at around 70 ish he played a joke on the Queen and through him self on the floor as usual, brilliant !

A King of British comedy, hopefully they will be running some of the old classics !!!! Cheers Norman RIP

He made hundreds of thousands of pounds and lived a good life from it.

What really bugs me is people make famous people who pass away to be like legends, why, most of them do sod all for others and then we have to endure several days of re-runs on the tv.

Take your point! I think though to a lot of people he was a "legend" he has been known to them for years and years,through television.I,myself remember seeing Mr W in panto with Linda Lusardi Years ago and he,and she were brilliant!
Sad loss of a very tanted man,but I won't be crying on the scaffold today!!

koi norman wisdom supported alot of charitys including mencap n project 21 in the isle of man which is a charity for people with learning difficulties he never just sat on his rrr's.
anyone who can help different charitys can be a hero or legend n for a man that had a bad childhood he put alot into peoples lifes.
so sorry i disagree with you on that but we all have our own opions eh!!
