On mine the glow plug light comes on for a split second then you have to wait for the beep before starting

Pretty much! I think the glow plug light comes on briefly to let you know it's working - If your light isn't coming on at all it probably isn't - there is an 80amp fuse (i think from memory) in the fuse box, check that - if you need to change it the fuse box has got to come out!

Just been out and checked again and it does come on butvery briefly, I think when it stops raining i'll check the glow plugs see if there ok or if ones down. does yours start fiirst time, mine takes a couple or three turns whens its cold.
          Thanks for the advice.

Ignore the last question just got the "pretty much" bit.. Der!

It starts quickly I don't need to keep cranking it over - I've just ordered a new set from ebay as I think one of mine is dead - my truck runs a little lumpy when cold (as if one cylinder isn't firing properly)

            Something like these:

If you leave your ignition on position 2 do you get a beep after 20 secs or so?

              3.0s don't have the 'beep'.

Mine just starts! Get in, turn ignition on, crank engine, starts first time. Never failed in 4 years of ownership.

Yes it does click and i did asume that was the glow plug relay, but its not starting first turn so i might change them anyway. the bosses cruiser starts instantly and hes never changed them and thats done nearly 300k miles now.
