£60 per hour multiply by eight (if someone spent all day on it) = £480

hopefully not more than that!

Well having had done to me by a "4x4 specialist" nearby what dieselboy's special friends like doing, I was rather hoping that I might be able to avail myself of Tony's services. Especially given all the positive feedback on the forum about his work and expertise.

Tony in Basingstoke did my surf head replacement in either 2004 or 2005 I can't remember now it was so long ago. The girl is still going strong now.

Hope there isnt any damage I say this because I had my head removed and replaced on my 2.4 (for a different reason other than overheating) A few weeks after driving it coming BACK from a long trip she over heated. Temp in the red - was an air lock.
Filling back up with water and burping properly and zero issues ever since.

Thanks for the thought - that's very kind of you. Not much to be done in the event apart from sit it out and wait for the tow truck though. Home now thank goodness. I could maybe have limped home after topping up the coolant, but really didn't want to do more damage than is already done.
Now I've just got to work out whether I am capable of replacing the head myself, or whether I ought to just get the whole shebang done - new rad, head, temp guage etc. In which case I realistically haven't got the time (or the competence) to do it, in which case I need to find someone not too far away who could...
