  • e-bay sellers - help

I know a few of you use e-bay to sell a thing or two.
I predominately use it to purchase items and have only ever sold one item, which was my old Surf.

My son has had a clear out and has decided to sell what seems a hundred used PSP and PS2 games and movies. So I've decided to help him sell them on e-bay as he's only 15.

    Here's my question:
Should I use recorded delivery to ensure the item has been received by the buyer?
The only issue is that in doing so, it drives up the cost of the game/ film to a cost that's comparable to a new film sold by those mega-sellers that offer free P&P.
I know I can drop the price of the item, but it then seems almost not worth the effort involved in listing the item, packaging it up , and going to the post office.

What I'm trying to avoid is some pimple faced yob making a claim and saying he never received the item, when indeed he has.

I know I would pay the extra costs if I was buying something, to ensure piece of mind. But then again our target audience isn't middle aged men.

Any other advice would also be much appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Gordon....

You can post second class and get a free certificate of posting which means that you can claim from the Post Office if it isn't delivered - it takes a while but you won't be out of pocket dependent on value etc ...

Recorded deliver on a psp game will be about 70p extra.
Covers it for £28 should it go missing.

            Selling price - £5 (even that's a bit steep)
            listing fee - .20p
final valuation fee - .45p as I wanted a "buy it now" listing
max postage allowed when listing ,as I selected standard postage is £ 2.00
actual cost of postage including padded envelope - 2.09
if you include .70p for recorded delivery now

            3.56 left over

            hardly seems worth it really.
I've listed 3 items and we'll see how they get on.

Did you look at Amazon and Play too?

That's not bad profit on a £5 item (remember the PayPal fees still have to come off). Sell a hundred or so of them a day and you have a nice wee business.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's
