Tons of power. Quite smooth, love the engine sounds good, starts up like nothing I've ever known.

My friend has one of these and it's very nice, he gets a little worried about water crossings and it's startling how fast it goes through petrol, but if you can afford it it's brilliant.

Been dying to know this: will the 4.2 diesel from an lc80 fit a surf gen2?
If it does thats what I am saving up for!!

So you're saying that if a 4.2 in-line six Toyota engine fits in a Discovery's engine bay, it'll fit in a Surf's too?

engine bay on my disco looks smaller than my surfs. but as i know nothing with regards engine transplants then no i'm not saying its possible.
if its possible i guess your the man

a year ago i wouldn't of thought a lexus engine would fit in a surf

The Discovery probably has a larger transmission tunnel so the engine can sit further back.

It is possible to fit a 4.2 in a Surf, but you'll need at least three inches of bodylift and a bespoke radiator.

the rear of the discos standard engine sits under the scuttle panel. tranny tunnel maybe bigger.

looking at the pics of mine then i think the discos engine bay maybe deeper aswell
