If I were to buy a 1998-2005 Jaguar saloon, what models are best and which models or engines should I avoid? I'm not interested in the Monguar thing.

Mmmm, dunno anything about them, but I'd be inclined to go for an XK, or an XKR if you can stretch to it. I love Jags, and totally agree about the little one.

MK 1 S types had gear box issues. Expensive ones. No idea what year, but it's a pretty expensive thing. Don't believe anyone that says it just need a soft wear fix.. Most of them have had new boxes by now, and they should be fine. The mk 2 is much much better though.

I found the GR3 rather noisy....especialy in re-heat........err i'll get me coat
