I'm looking at the many surfs on sale on ebay, I'm after a gen 3 and there are a couple that are intercooled. The one that I fancy is on ebay at the moment it's a 2000 plate imported in 2008 and £6125 ono it's a classified ad..if anyone can be bothered having a look it on ebay I'd appreciate any advice or what you think I should look for. I used to have a '93 2.4 gen2 and loved it and I'm dying to get another surf. Cheers Andy.

The only thing that lets it down imho is the stupid spoiler but apart from that its looking a nice truck.I got a 1999 intercooled surf aswell and it has the bigger front bumper aswell which i prefer the look off.I did pay £4500 for mine a few months ago but i reacon i got it cheap by about £1000.
Go take the truck for a test drive and see what you think of it.I think the price is about right but if you can get something off the price then thats even betterhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/henpals/

To reply to the original question. Yes, but not in any meaningful way. You get a few extra horses, but not so many that youre going to notice them. You may get better fuel consumption, but again not so much that you will either notice or get rich. This of course is only my opinion and others may disagree.

my '96 intercooled surf has a lot of poke and still some good acceleration even at speed, so i'd say the intercooled engine is a good choice. however my other surf was a lowly '92 2.4 and that was a bit of a boat when it came to speed, so, io guess any 3 would seem significabntly better/
i agree, the spoiler is a bit naff, and i prefer teh 2nd gen all round looks wise, but i would not part with my intercooled 3 now. its a 96 and i paid 3.5k 4 months ago.If you're gonna be a bear... be a Grizzly.

It's on eBay and Petrolheads. Had about a dozen enquiries, many wanting to PX stuff like 'very very fast Renault Clios with a gazillion ££££s worth of playstation fitted'. Sadly seems there's a lot of wasters and indecisive types out there... or is there... yes... well... no... maybe....Cutting steps in the roof of the world

I bought my Surf from this chap. He is a dealer who operates from a private house and makes out that the vehicle is his own and he has to sell due to losing his job/splitting up with wife etc, etc.
He always has one or more Surfs on ebay at any one time (and possibly other vehicles under a different seller name)
Mine seemed fine when I bought it, but the head went within a couple of weeks. I gave the chap the benefit of the doubt at the time, but when I took the old head off, I found a recently fitted new gasket which had probably masked the problem for a short time.
'Buyer beware' is the term I think.

I'm going to send any questions or make any offer through ebay then I'll be able to chase him up if a problem appears soon after if I buy it. You've given me food for thought though. There is another guy in Bolton that has several for sale on ebay but I've read on here that he is a bit shady too. I'll just have to give it a thorough going over.
