  • New Surfer

    Well Hello,

Due to a house move that is on a steep narrow lane in the middle of nowhere, I decided that I needed a Surf.

I am a total petrol head and I have owned a few interesting cars over the years including a TVR Chimaera, but my passion is the Suzuki Cappuccino, which for those who don't know looks like an MX-5 that got shrunk in the wash. They have a 657cc 3 cylinder engine that out 64bhp. I have one that I have been fiddling with and now puts out 111bhp. It goes like stink, and quite frankly looks ridiculous next my new Surf. I will have to get a pic of the two together, talk about chalk and cheese. I also have a Suzuki Swift Sport but the wife hogs that so I rarely get to drive it.

So I got my new green 3.0 '93 surf on ebay having never seen it, driven it or driven any other Hilux or similar 4x4 for that matter. Best thing was my wife had no idea I was buying it so I announced that I had won the auction when we had friends round so that she could not shout at me! It kind of worked.

It is far more fun to drive than I had imagined, the engine has a surprising amount of grunt and I just love the driving position. Amazingly my wife now loves it!!!

The car itself seems to be in pretty good order, done 122kms, bit rough around the edges cosmetically but seems to drive very well. Although I have a relatively logical mind I am not a mechanical kind of guy, so expect some really dumb questions on the forum soon!

Hello and welcome! I find that my 3.0 is surprisingly agile for a 2 ton truck! Pretty much every one who has got in it has liked it, and it puts a smile on my face everytime I get in it!

I have had one for about 2 months now and apart from the fuel economy it performs miles better than I was expecting. I was brought up on a farm with various Land Rovers and the difference is incredible!
                      Welcome to the group.

                            Hi and Welcome!
Reminds me of someone that told me a story similar to yours once. He told the wife he was going on a business trip for a few days, and drove one of these back from czech:

                            Oh Nana, what's my name?
