  • Any ideas?

Another string to my anti-useless c##ts garages bow, but my son just put his defender in to a land rover "specialists" (haha) for a full service and hey presto!! the bugger wont start when cold, it will eventually fire up and once going starts first time all day, (till the next morning), first thought was air trapped in the ip or lines and yesterday i loosened the injector unions one at a time and got spurts out ok, no visable air, (this done with the engine running, he is gonna see if it makes any difference this morn and aint contacted him yet so dunno, just wondered if there owt else they may have done,
thie is a different garage to the last one who failed to spot a prop uj almost comeing apart, he asked em to check out this "knocking sound"
wtf he prefers to get this serviceing done by so called professionals i done know, i'd have done it better for nowt,
its had no starting probs whatsoever since he got it,
    any ideas?

Glo Plugs ?? Have the professionals somehow managed to blow a fuse on the glo plug cct when they connected up their computer. I think thats what servicing by professionals consists of these days, connect a computer, take a few readings, then top up the washer bottle and present a bill for a gazillion pounds.
Have you tried a skoosh of " start ya barsteward" ( your words-not mine) if that fires it in to life would it not point to glo plugs rather than fuel.?

And now youre going to tell me its a petrol landy ??

just been speaking to him Alex and it's still the same, i did mention glow plugs and told him to check the fuse/relay and buss bar, hes takeing it back tomorrow tho, run out of "start ya ba$tard" but did try a little "comeon for christ's sake" but to no avail

one thing i did notice tho is that when i removed a fuel return pipe (just bits of rubber tube on landys) from the injector i got nowt comeing out (engine running and reving) i'd have thought there would have been a dribble or summat!!

Symptoms sound like glow plugs or air leaks.

I'd check for power to the glow plugs and them take filter off and check seal.

Let the garage have a chance to sort it out before to much abuse, everyone makes the odd mistake, they should look at it for him sort out whats happened.

I once fitted a faulty fuel filter before that let air in and leaked round an badly rolled edge, truck started fine to be collected and didn't notice at time, but was a bugger to start next day. Get it back to garage, sort it out for free, mucho apologies and everyone happy.
