Fitting an aux temp gauge

Top hose is 32mm on the 2.4 and 38mm for the 3Ltr.

So I fitted this temp gauge last week and even when foot almost flat to the floor, turbo boost at 11psi and going up a hill on the motorway car not even accellerating (struggling in the illegal speed range anyway ) temp did not ever go past 90c. Fluctuations were 8c from 82 to 90 and then back to 82 under nearly all driving conditions...

So, as the weather is a lot cooler now than in the summer may be it is just the combination of gearbox cooling and engine temp too much for the radiator to handle. I'll fit a separate ATF cooler at somepoint and hopefully never see engine temp rise again!
