  • 2nd gen model differences

Will the bumpers from a pre-facelift 2nd gen fit a facelifted 2nd gen? Similarly, will the grille and lights fit (if changed as a set, I know the lights are different)?

I dont know, but given that it's a 'facelift', by definition that suggests they just changed cosmetics, which suggests the frame is the same.

I like the earlier look too

They 'look' the same shape and the holes all look the same (front bumper is 3 piece as opposed to one piece) just want to check before I buy a truck to scrap.

I'm mainly after the bumpers, they are mint, but would maybe swap the whole front end.

If I can't use the bumpers, it may not be worthwhile buying the breaker. Saying that, it's done 250k, so probably has a new head and DMF by now, and lots of other bits and bobs look saleable.

So the grille and lights are different? Any idea about the bumpers?

I am sure the bumpers are the same mounting points but may be wrong

I really cant imagine they changed bodywork presses to tart it up a bit. I know you cant swap indicators - I tried - but I dont see why you wouldn't be able to change the lot in one go.

Hi Andy. Theres a pre facelift ( 90 I think, older lights and grille ) 2.4 running around Chorley with a facelift front bumper and lower valance. Its got wide body arches as well, so if parts will swap one way, they should swap the other. What are you planning?.......Do tell.....Cheers....Mick.

I've fitted one piece chrome surf bumpers to a MK3 pickup, they fit fine, the only bits you can't straight swap are the indicators and headlights

To change from facelift to pre-facelift you'll need :

                        Front wings. (Different shape sidelights)
                        Headlights. (Including the bowls)
                        Indicators.
                        Sidelights.
Bumper. (Three pieces but same mounts)
Valance. (It's steel instead of plastic)

OK, thanks folks. I think I'll buy and break this pre facelift 2.4. There are a few bits I want for myself (bumpers, radiator, boot liner and a few odds and sods) and I'll break the rest. Just need to hide it from Shirley...
