  • My 1st Surf!

After quite some looking around at various different 4x4s, the missus and I went to Derbyshire today to collect this little beauty!

Looks lovely, drives lovely, needs some bits and bobs doing but essentially a very clean example (3.0 SSRX Limited)

Needs a new Aircon pump (this one is sticking and squealing like a little piggy!) Anyone suggest where to get a good one at the right price?

Cambelt was last done Nov '07 but has done nearly 100k KM since so would you recommend I get it done again?

I'll get the oil serviced too I guess. No service history so I don't know when it was done. On inspection, the airfilter is of the "Green Cotton" variety and in very clean condition. The fuel and oil filters look new enough too but the oil has seen clearer days.

Finally, I may add bull bars. Where would I look for the 'standard' bull bar???

Lovely motor - very happy! She's parked up with my MR2 at the moment... it's like little and large

It needs to be a bit muddier and less shiney!

Regarding servicing, YES get it serviced, all oils, filters, belts etc
Including Cam belt - it's a lovely looking motor, with no service history it would be worth doing everything just to make sure.

Also when you service it get the coolant system flushed through an refreshend.

By the way I'm no Surf expert (yet) but reading on here all the time that would be the advice all the experts would give you

For second hand parts like the aircon bits and bullbar - speak to Stormforce - he's mr spare parts (and good value)

Try one of the breakers on here. I recommend Stormforce (Richard).

If it's done 100,000km since the last belt was fitted then yes.

For sale section on here or Ebay.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

                Very nice!

Don't listen to the unwashed, keep it clean and shiny and it'll look after you and your wallet. I've had mine seven years now and still no rust at all on it.

p.s. the naked front look is best.

Ahh, sadly this will be a much cherished shiny show piece for the wife [who looks nothing like that emoticon!]

We've both had to step out of the 'Tuner' world, having both been big into our jap-import sports cars. We've spent a lot of time getting the cars shined up for the jap-shows and old habits die hard 2 MR2s, 2 Skylines, S15 Silvia, WRX Impreza... ah, how I've loved them all.

That said, we've not been afraid to use the cars for what they were intended for; spirited driving, drag strip etc. so there's every possibility that I'll take the Hilux off road for some rough n tumble ... so long as I promise to wash it afterward

bugger i like that!! just a shame my licence won't allow it apart from that its too low for me to get in easily... gutted though i'd love a pocket rocket for the occasional loony run up to lancashire to see family, fast cars do have an attraction though i can't think why
