Going to cardiganshire next week, and hoping to do some fishing off the rocks,do i fish with float, ledger or spinner, and what would be the best easily available bait?
Thanks
i've no idea on the fishing in that area but if you have a look on the angling times website it might have a list of venues that are fishing well or try the sea angler website as they have a venues page that is compiled from anglers in the region and wheres fishing well and on what bait is producing good results
sorry i can't be of more help but i live in the south west and only fished the coast round this way
I'M ALWAYS IN THE SH'T, IT'S ONLY THE DEPTH THAT VARIES!!!!!!!!
this time of year, if you want edible catch, go for a set of feathers or a lure off the rocks for mackerel.
if you have any sandy/shingle beach areas, with surf rolling in (sea surf... not YOUR surf) then try a ledger rig with local bait of choice for bass.... yum!
off the rocks with a float rig for wrasse (not really a plate fish though) or pollock, mackerel or garfish.
sandy areas off a rocky shore would be good for ray on a ledger rig.
used to fish the plymouth area, and thats quite rocky with sandy areas.
peeler crab, best bait all round for summer months, feathers/spinner for mackeral, cut into strips and bottom fish with this for dabs, plaice etc. Sea fishing's best in the winter months for cod, summer's pretty crap apart from the mackys n decent flatties, straight in the pan. H
Thanks for the replies, got some preserved sand eels and ragworm off eblag, any good?
ok if you want to go after crab on a crab line use mackeral, squid, sandeels (live or frozen) lugworm, ragworm, prawn n if i was making a cocktail bait ive even use cockles
