  • I do appeciate that Yoshie, I really am thankful for all the advice I recieve on here, I'm not trying to make it any more difficult than it is!

One last question and I'll stop going on about it! Promise!

When my surf left the factory in 1992 what height would the suspension have been? (surely all LN130's would be the same height, give or take a few mm?)

What Yoshies getting at is it really doesn't matter. You want to run 33's? Go get 33's and lift it enough so they don't rub much. You know you can do it cos its been done and what you need is here.

Factory setting for IFS pickups is 299mm to 305mm from center of front of cam adjusting bolt to floor. I don't have a offical workshop manual for LN130s, but its the same front end as YN, LN and RN series pickups, and they are all slighly different heights, so it dosn't really matter.

      • Thanks Tony - I'm just trying to work out how much lift (if any) I've achieved from what the standard would have been (before saggy ar$e) by adding in the +2" springs and winding up the torsion bars - the truck was almost sitting on its bumpstops before I added them.

I'll shut up now like I promised

Big thanks to all who added to my confusion! I understand now what needs to be done - probably

        • Just what a forum is for, a discussion. The OP was exactly like I was when buying lift stuff for my truck. Now I've done it, I know. But I didn't back then and I asked questions. You go away and think about it over in your head and it sparks new questions.
As with doing most things for the first time, it seems complicated. I'm sure every post in this 13 page thread is appreciated! The OP is a nice bloke! Not like those that turn up, swear a few times then disappear forever!

Plus, everyone has opinions about how to do the lift - e.g. some say dont drop the diff, some (well, me) say I had to as I pretty much oblitorated my CV and had to buy another.

Totally agree, I had never seen a Surf till summer of 2005 and was also clueless with regard to this particular truck. However, on this occassion the discussion is missing the listening element.

I listened to it all, I just didn't understand it all and different people are giving me conflicting information for example you said I dont need to upgrade my damper but TonyN said it would be nice with 33's on. Both of you know Surf's better than I ever will!
I think got there in the end and I know where to go from here I spoke again!

              • Puddle. What's nice to do and what you need to do are 2 totally separate things. You are on a budget, so you do the 'need' to do things. Those of us with larger budgets, do the 'nice' to do things as well, and those with even larger budgets, just show off.

You say you're in the 'need' bracket, but seem to be doing the 'nice' things, so if there's confusion; you're causing it yourself.

Sorry forgot to mention, I'm getting 32x11.50's. Can;t be ar$ed to go the whole hog and lift the body!

BTW, if we're talking development, there's a reason Toyota didn't fit 33x12.5''s as standard isn't there?!
As soon as you move away from stock, you're upsetting the whole vehicle's design tolerances - a little rub's the least of your issues!

I know someone had some plastic body spacers at Avalanche, where did they come from, were they any good?
Puddles.. Only just seen this thread and I was the one that had the Spacers from EBAY.

I have had them straightened off but still waiting to go pick them up, please do not buy any of Ebay without asking me for the person to avoid.
I recently went into disbute with the seller and he has become rather Obnoxious and aggressive in his email conversations. I cannot mention this person as that could cause Koi some problems but if you want the indervidualls Ebay ID I will provide via PM.
I also have photos that i will eventually get round to posting on here but with holidays and having the kids i have not got round to uploading them from the Camera.

Please be warned this person is not nice to trade with and the goods supplied are sub standard.

They are Cheap on Ebay but once you get them home they are more expensive than some of the other suppliers.

                        Thanks

                        • Hi Madmanc, I did buy some of off ebay (I think the guy normaly sells frontera body lifts - I don't know if it's the same guy) the body lift is here and I have to say I'm happy with it, it's all square, holes where they should be and correct size bolts etc - I hope you get yours sorted out though!
