  • Fabricating

I now have use of some machinery I can use to fabricate some bits, I'm planning on buying some parts to lift my truck from outrageous offroad (coil spacers) but I was thinking do I need to buy BJ spacers or can I make some?
I assume BJ spacers are just 2" thick washers/shims with 4 holes in for the top BJ bolts to go through? Same with ARB spacers and diff spacers?

I'm not planning on going into production of these parts in competition with anybody, I'm only going to make some to fit my truck! That way the money I've saved on BJ spacers can pay for freewheeling hubs!

The bj spacer are solid blocks. They need to be milled from a billet of whatever your using.
      Non intercooled nothing.

I was thinking of just getting 2" steel bar and putting bolt holes through it - same with ARB spacers, the diffs are on brackets aren't they? They might require a little more thought! I'm trying to save some cash so I can buy manual hubs instead.

Just had a thought would the BJ spacers be a quadrilateral (can't spell it) shape rather than a square to allow for the angle of the wishbone

You need the proper material to make them such as 6061-T6 alloy.

You also need high tensile bolts!

I was just going to use solid bar mild steel not alluminium, would that not be strong enough? It might be easier to get some from outrageous offroad and worry about freewheeling hubs later.

I totally agree, that's why I was going to use steel not ally, Ally cracks, steel just bends. The wishbones are just made from mild steel aren't they?

Just use a solid block matey. Allied with high tensile bolts, this will be at least as strong as the original set up. Bolts just won't cut it. If a road side inspection turned up 4 bolts instead of a solid fitment, you might find yourself in all sorts of bother...besides, I believe that a solid spacer, made from something as substantial as nev said is going to be easier to fit.
