    Hi and welcome

See add top right of page, genuine heads from a reliable place used many times by people on here.
As for the torque settings its listed on here somewhere in a few past posts, just use the search button top centre of page and you will find them.

Welcome. Is it a 2.4 or a 3.0 you've got? In at the deep end indeed, but at least you'll know the truck inside out once you're done.

If you've got a 2nd gen with the rear seat heaters too, I'd recommend taking them out at the same time - the pipes along the bottom of the truck tend to corrode badly and risk losing your coolant. You can just short-circuit them where they T off with one of the existing rubber hoses.

Thanks for the reply's i have now ordered all the bit's from rough trax as they came in under my budget which helped me to get a new rad as well realy do not want this to happen again, all came in @ £1050 .As i intend to keep the Surf for a good time going to do a few other bit's snorkel etc.All this is a bit of a change as my last car was a Prodrive Impreza and i was worried about the engine going pop on that and got a 3.0 as looked up lot's on the heads going guess i just got a bad one.

It was most likely a duffer when you bought it, mine had no visible signs for 6 months apart from losing a bit coolant every hundred miles, make sure you change the thermostat when you have the head off and degunge the intake manifold, let the gunge dry out and sell it as paki black to get some dough back. Hi Wez,sorry to hear about you're troubles so early into Surf ownership! I've had my 3.0 SSRX for 4 years and never had an ounce of bother, it does get well looked after though.

Put your vehicle details in your profile mate, it helps when you need to ask for info.

Welcome to the forum neighbour! Hi from sunny Hailsham.
had my 2.4 for nearly 3 years now with no probs, guess it's just luck wether you get one that's been looked after or not!
(and make sure you put the recommended coolant in, after you've done the head, not water!)
