When I did ours 2 weeks ago, Stevo said on the phone that his place can do it in a single day - 5 hours work. But they've done it dozens of times. Standard estimate seems to be 2 days of work, so as Richard says, it really just depends on how much else they have on. Did they not give you an estimate when you left it with them?
I left our Golf in to get the timing belt changed recently. Was meant to take him a morning, so I could pick it up in the afternoon. 3 days later he wasn't answering his phone, so I took a trip down to see him - head under the bonnet starting the job. Won't be going back there again - it's not that the job wasn't good, it's that he kept fobbing me off about it being ready in no time at all when in truth he hadn't even started it yet.Andy

I have a good mate who works in a 4 x 4 dealership, they allow him to work on cars after work and at weekends as long as they aren't the same model that they sell / service (stand to reason really).
I'm pleased to say I get my jobs done quickly, proffesionally and at a very reasonable rate!'Tis better to sting than to be stung!

As has been said, just depends on how busy the garage is and availability of parts."B.A." Baracus: "Talk to me, talk sense so I can talk back. Not all this jibberjabber like breaking the peace and all that."

A crap rad *could* be the reason the head went in the first place. If the cooling system hasn't been looked after in the past, its highly possible that the rad could have been full of shite and causing hot running.
I'd ask them what their line of thinking is. Did loads of crud come out of the rad? Have they flow tested it?Cutting steps in the roof of the world
