  • on and on about roof tracks!

still struggling to get my head round my roof track problem
thule do 'clip' on feet plus bars for 100 quid which wrap around the top of the door-like a clamp
thing is i have 'slotted rails' already bolted to the top of the roof
there must be some system that slots into this???!!!

the clamps fit ok but are well forward, almost too forward, as they have to relate to the doors
the rails are at the back...
    whats a man to do!!
anyone got any experience of this please??!!

The Thule 417 series is designed to fit cars with a factory fitted T Track, it should be possible to make them fit a Surf.

And the 419 is designed to fit a 'yota so may be even better.

            I posted this earlier.

Found the thule part numbers and the pdf file from thule themselves:-
            http://www.thule.com/PabloImages/Document/68/1668.pdf
Page 2 ,diagram 2, the diamond shapped channel nuts will not fit securely therefor:-

To lock the end pieces into the roof rails I went to a local stockist of 'UNISTRUT' (found via a search on line) and bought - 8X 4mm tapped channel nuts for the 2000 series track and they fit the roof rails perfectly and only cost aprox 20p each.

I posted this earlier in the year. Mine have been on now for almost 20k miles, damn near constantly loaded with between 2 and 4 sets of ladders without any problems what so ever.

Edited 29.06.04 Sorry but the channel nut should be 8 of, 6mm tapped channel nuts
