This was my next train of thought, the gap NOW is 22" all round(front and back) from hub centre to top of wheel arch - didn't take measurement before so can't tell you the difference.
Can anyone with a STANDARD surf measure the front and back and post the measurement please? Another line of thought we've had is that the front has already been lifted, as I have not altered it....
As far as I'm aware I've got a standard Surf (original shocks with hard/soft and from what I could tell of the previous owner/owners they'd be unlikely to want to lift it at all) so I just popped outside to measure the distance from centre of wheel to top of wheel arch.

Rear was just under 20 inches, front was pretty much bang on 20 inches. This sounds about right compared to your 22 inches with the +2" springs. Mind you, I reckon the shocks/springs will be a bit cream crackered so maybe you should be getting a wee bit more than 22 inches.

It'll be autumn/winter time before I end up fitting a 2" suspension lift (hopefully a 2" body lift will go on sometime before then) so I'll let everyone know how it goes when I get around to it.

Thanks for the measure Rustinho. It does seem a little short doesn't it? assuming you've got a saggy arse, the measurements are a little out for a 2" lift on new springs. Anyone else care to measure, just to be sure, please?

Rusty, the state of the shocks has no bearing on the height of the truck, though standard rears often top-out with LC springs fitted.

Going to jack up the body tommorow to find out exactly what travel there is left in the dampers....should be interesting.

One thing we did think of was my wheels are 16" and tyres are more or less metric equivalents of 31x10.50's, so maybe its just an illusion as the tyres don't look so big on the rims and consequently look in proportion to the lift?????

Fair do's - I was aware of that - they only act as dampers to kill oscillation, just pointing out that as far as I know my suspension settings are unlikely to be anything other than standard.

Ah OK. Thought you meant your truck might sit lower cos your shocks are shocking.

Nope - but it does a passable impression of a bouncy castle if it's on the "soft" setting!

                  Well its not the shocks....

Decided to jack it up and see how far it would go on the standard shocks.
Normal. 21.5" between hub and wheel arch with new roughtrax +2" HD springs.

Jacked up. 24" between hub and wheel arch

Wish I'd taken a pic before the new springs went in now!

Think I'll be fitting coil spacers pretty soon!

Most people who have fitted roughtrax +2" springs have said it's nearer 1.5" of real lift. Also I'm pretty sure the front arch should be higher than the rear arch to keep the truck level (look at the horizontal door trims for a reference)

The truck on the right is my sisters and is stock height. The one of the left is mine and has a LASupertrux 2"lift kit fitted. As you can see there is not alot visually between them, however after fitting my lift I did notice a big difference offroad. Removing the side steps has greatly increased the visual appearance of lift, however I do intend getting some coil spacers when funds allow to raise the rear a bit more.

Forgot to ask what tyre size at you running?
Mine is on 31"s, my sisters is metric 265 or 275 somethings.

This morning I've changed my springs to the Roughtrax +2" and they are now sitting at 13.25" on driverside and 14" on passenger side - from top of rim to wheel arch (yes i did fit them the right way around! longer one on drivers side)
A bit disapointed really I expected to lift 2" to around 15/15.5" inches all I've really done is put the surf back where it should be still on my list is coil spacers and BJ spacers

have you adjusted the torsion bars yet Lee as by doing this can raise or lower the rear end a bit.Check the front end and adjust the t/bars.Also have you taken the truck for a hard drive to settle the suspension
