Was the Hummer trying to mate with the surf?

It's your age andy. Hummers also utilise torsion bars forthefront suspension set up. The hummer limo weighs just over 5 tons. It snapped right in the middle of the bar, 5 mins after igot back to the yard with it. I've replace it now though. Just took it for a spin and it's fine. It's a lot easier to change than a surf one. You can only have it in 4 different positions. This isn't a usual hummer arrangement. When these vehicles were sent fir a certificate of initial fitness, the steering was changed to allow a better turning circle. This was done by removing front drive shafts and using an amended steering telayarm. The torsion bats were also upratedto 4 position only bars.

I was just messing around with you Graham

If a bar snapped on my truck my wheel would ruin the arch, + extension and bonnet most probably. The bottom bump stop is about 4" or more away from the control arm.
One of the risks I suppose. Luckily you wasnt driving it at the time!
