  • I made an arse of...

fitting my Bronze Bushes. I coggled both of the inner ones when I was fitting them, so they both got damaged.

I was going to order new ones, but thought I'd have a go at reaming the damaged ones. Guess what, my reamers were all too big, so I moved on to my socket set. A 19mm impact driver from my Halfords Pro tool kit is exactly the same size as the drive shaft journal. So I lubed up the socket and ran it through a couple of times to square up the bush, and all is now well.

    Bodging at its best...

I don't bodge very often and it's not as if this is a dangerous one, I have FWHs, so the bushes will rarely be needed for their design purpose.

Surely only a complete bounder would do that to you ?

Unless you've inadvertently upset somebody ...

Steve, have you added this to your favourites yet ?

I didn't feel right with my 'Socket Reamer' so I borrowed an adjustable reamer from my dad and did the job properly.

                        Bushes

Done both of mine in the last month or so and refurbed all the front suspesion and steering and replaced rear drums, brake shoes and 1/2shaft bearings ready for MOT. Still failed but on headlamps out of aim and wrong bulb in indicator should have been orange instead of white, back to the bushes mine went in fine after being in the frezzer for 2days and long length of stud iron, nuts and washers grease and air ratchet.

is this easy to do myself?

is there a write up with step by step instructions somewhere?
