  • after 10 mitsubishi pajeros i finally got a hilux surf.....!

    hi guys
just wanted to say hi and say that after 8 years and 10 mitsubishi pajeros i funally succumbed to a hilux surf......Gulp...!
Have been looking for a few weeks for a 3litre second generation for about £2500 but yesterday i found one that had just been taken in as part ex.
So after a 2hr hour drive and £1450 lighter i think i got a little bargain.
    1994 L reg
    131,000 kms
    good body work
    good tyres
nasty wheels...! ( which im gonna replace )
    ice cold air con.
No oil leaks and drive great. really pulls well.
Just in the process of taking all the decals off and undersealing her.
Will be running her on my home made biodiesel that ive been making for the last couple of years. 35pence a litre is way better than £1.20... any day.
should be on the road in a couple of weeks.

oh and heres a pic of my old Mk1 pajero i just sadly sold a few weeks ago.

There are a couple of "stickys" for veggie oil info and experiences of running on it which is where I got started on the whole veggie oil experience.

Currently using SVO from a local Chinese wholesalers at about 80p/L but starting to get things together to run WVO.

Like I said, any top tips are appreciated!

Welcome to the club! 3.0 Surfs run great on bio, I know mine does. So whats so wrong with your wheels? Ive always liked that style. have you got a set of 5? Ill have them off you, if the price is right lol! It looks like you like to modify your vehicles, so keep us all posted as you do, with loads of pics!....Cheers....Mick.

Re: biodiesel do bear in mind that the methanol in or will
degrade rubber hosed etc. Do may need to replace with silicone or similar. For those of you with only surfs they do seem to run fine on just veg (with up to 10% petrol added in winter and maybe a little diesel if it'd really cold) if you are a) going to be using the bio in another car (most diesels are not ss tolerant of veg as surfs) or b) already have your bio set up running as the OP has then I would consider whether it's worth the time, risk and extra money to make bio (I decided not too hence I should really be Vegsurf/Chipsurf/Fatsurf )

Not saying don't do it but do consider it first. It's easy enough to fit a fuel heater to help the viscosity of the veg if need be (in fact I think someone now supplies them with detailed walk through of fitting them to Surfs)

Welcome to the forum and great to see another who will be making the MOT monkeys think that their emissions tester is broken!

biodiesel contains no methanol as its taken out in the process....!
so far in 2 years ive run a 1989 mk1 pajero 2.5tdi , a 1998 ford escort 1.8tdi with a crappy lucas pump...! and a 300td merc and have clocked up about 15 thousand trouble free miles. also a friend of mine who has a ford escort on a 51 plate has just clocked up 50 thousand on bio and has never had any problems.

yes the last time before i sold the pajero, the mot tester asked me if i was running the old girl on bio as the emmisions were really good.

i love it when the price of fuel goes up...... and up and up... yepeeeee...!
